About the project

Digital Active, Innovating Activities in Interculturality and Social Youth (DAYS) tackled excessive, unstructured screen time among young people — social media overuse, passive time-spending and vulnerability to cyberbullying — by building their digital competences alongside intercultural understanding. Coordinated by Educademy Prague, the 6-month KA152-YOU Mobility of Young People project (1 September 2021 – 1 March 2022) brought together 40 young people and their group leaders from five countries for a week-long youth exchange in Czechia.

Youth Exchange: Social&DigitalYouth

15–21 November 2021 · Czechia · 40 participants (aged 20–27) in 5 national groups plus 10 group leaders

A week of workshops, outdoor activities and cultural visits designed around digital wellbeing and intercultural learning:

  • Workshops on the correct, safe and productive use of social media
  • Sessions on cyberbullying — types and how to overcome it, plus a "Digital Detox / Paper Phone" exercise
  • Outdoor and environmental activities (including an environmental cleaning trek) as alternatives to screen time
  • Presentations on digital literacy and finding reliable information online
  • Cultural visits exploring European heritage and identity
  • Closing certificate ceremony and evaluation

At least two participants in each national group were young people with fewer opportunities (economic, geographical, social or cultural), reflecting the project's inclusion focus.

Objectives

  • Build awareness of the excessive and improper use of social media
  • Develop digital and information-literacy competences
  • Explore alternative, productive ways of spending free time
  • Improve communication, language and entrepreneurial skills
  • Strengthen self-confidence, social harmony and intercultural understanding
