About the project

L@ngu@ges4all responded to the rapid growth in migration to Europe and Türkiye by building a free smartphone app that helps refugees and immigrants learn the language of their new country and get familiar with its culture. The app covers six target languages — Turkish, English, German, Czech, Italian and Bulgarian — and at least six support languages, including Arabic, Farsi/Dari, Kurmanji, Pashto and Sorani, chosen to reach language groups often overlooked when country of origin alone is used as a proxy for the language someone speaks. The project is a transfer of innovation from an earlier Italian project, "Moving Languages", extended with new target and support languages and an accompanying film series. It ran as an Erasmus+ KA220-ADU Cooperation Partnership in Adult Education, coordinated by ARSU Academy for Lifelong Learning and Development Germany e.V.

Project outputs

• L@ngu@ges4all mobile app — around 6,000 words and expressions across everyday topics (food, transport, clothing and more), illustrated with high-quality images, plus country-specific vocabulary chosen by each partner to speed up integration
• A 12-episode audio-visual series in each partner language, portraying everyday life in the partner countries
• L@ngu@ges4all web portal and database, supporting the mobile app content

Multiplier events

Each partner hosted a national multiplier event in October 2023 to launch and promote the app locally: in Germany, Bulgaria, Czechia (led by Educademy Prague), Italy and Türkiye.

Recognition

L@ngu@ges4all received both the Good Practice label and the European Language Label, recognising its contribution to innovative language teaching and learning across the EU.
