We Learn as One

About the project

WE LEARN AS ONE aimed to increase teachers' abilities in special education so that pupils with special educational needs are better integrated into school life and social activities. Coordinated by Osnovna sola Brezice (Slovenia) with partners in Türkiye and Czechia, the project brought together roughly 200 pupils aged 12–15 across the three partner schools — many facing learning disabilities, early school leaving or socio-economic disadvantage. The 12-month project ran from 1 April 2023 to 1 April 2024 with a €60,000 lump-sum grant.

Objectives

• Bring teachers to at least 70% qualification level in special education
• Build teacher awareness of special-education policy across the partner countries
• Improve teachers' ability to present materials and techniques that help pupils with special educational needs discover their own interests and abilities
• Develop key competences in special education and inclusive/integrative teaching

Learning, Teaching and Training activities

Each partner school also ran two Multiplier Virtual Activities — "Special Education in My Country" and "Material Design in Special Education" — reaching around 30 additional teachers across the three countries.

• An inclusive and integrative education model developed jointly by the partner schools
• Material collections gathered from each LTTA
• Booklets for parents, pupils and teachers, published by each school in its own language
• Three LTTA impact reports
• A companion eTwinning project, "We Learn As One"
• A "We Learn As One" pupil club established at each school
